This Week's Fashionable Events: Fashion Shows, Warehouse Sales, Parties & More


UPCOMING FASHIONABLE FUN EVENTS IN the sf bay area, october 4th - 10th, 2010

It's going to be a great week in San Francisco with all the fashion events happening around the bay plus other fun events that inspire dressing up and getting out, such as Fleet Week (October 7 - 12), the SF Jazz Festival, and Decompression.
MONDAY

Superdry will officially unveil their first-ever store in San Francisco, located at the Westfield San Francisco Centre. Superdry USA's collection fuses aesthetic sportswear with vintage flair, offering signature styles including hand-drawn graphic t-shirts, rugged plaids, leather bombers, cargo pants and retro vintage hoodies. They are celebrated for its cutting edge, cool and unique products, all offered at accessible price points. Store hours are Monday thru Saturday, 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM and Sundays, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

THURSDAY
La Casa de las Madres is hosting a "RedHot Party" charity event at Tres Agaves this evening.
"Butterfly Dream" evening gown by Colleen Quen.
The Bay Area Arthritis Auxiliary, a volunteer group of the Arthritis Foundation, Northern California Chapter, is pleased to announce its 2010 Fashion Show featuring the collections of local San Francisco designer Colleen Quen. This special event will feature a reception, silent auction, as well as a gourmet luncheon and runway fashion show. All proceeds will support the Arthritis Foundation, Northern California Chapter's research, community programs and advocacy efforts. Ticket cost ranges from $150 to $1000.

The weekly Arts Market SF at the UN Plaza returns! Shop, mingle and eat while you enjoy live entertainment throughout this outdoor market. Some of the designers who are participating include Das Owl, Kenna Kristine, Mangosteen Jewelry, and Scottish Lily. This is a special event featuring two live fashion shows produced by Charleston Pierce Productions at Naracamicie, legendary for its signature Italian shirts.  Enjoy wine, passed hors d'oeuvres and signature cocktails while mingling with fellow BRAVO! opera-lover members!
Shotwell is hosting a Vivienne Westwood X Lee Jeans Launch Party. Music by Certain People and complimentary drinks through the night.
Addictive Clothing Designs introduces its 2010 Fall/Winter collection fashion show. Come check out the most addictive men's and women's looks for fall/winter this year. There will be great fun, great music and great designs. No cost to attend.
FRIDAY
Friday will be the air show rehearsals for Fleet Week - you can't avoid hearing them if you're within miles of downtown San Francisco. Art Explosion Studios is hosting a free opening reception gala to kick-off the Open Studios weekend in the Mission. The Gem Faire at the Alameda County Fairgrounds kicks off today and continues through the weekend. Other great fashion events to enjoy on Friday include the following:
Premium denim without the premium price tag! The Warehouse Sale teams with denim line 7 For All Mankind to bring premium denim to the fashion savvy on October 8th through the 10th in San Francisco at the Hilton in Union Square. Refresh your denim wardrobe for fall as this iconic brand holds its coveted warehouse sale for the first time in San Francisco. RSVP to attend.
Benefiting the Goodwill of Silicon Valley, the second annual Eco Chic Fashion Show will feature an earthly cool cocktail party, fabulous signature dinner and the fashion show featuring vintage items of the past and new-refashioned styles by local designers. Cost to attend is $150 for the whole event or $35 for the fashion show only.
Beats for Boobs will host its 7th annual fundraiser on Friday, October 8th at Mezzanine in San Francisco. This event raises community awareness for breast cancer through a collective celebration of art, fashion, food and music. The talented DJ lineup includes shOOey, Shissla, Ellen Ferrato, Melyss, Murphstar, Aaron Pope, Marissa Guzman, Ruby Valeros, and Jamie Lin. Fashion show participants include DeFalco Design, Gelareh Design, Melissa Moorcroft, Miranda Caroligne, Silver Lucy Design, Tamo Design, Warrior Within Designs and Miss G Designs. There will also be featured artists, a silent auction, and catered food. Ticket cost ranges from $25 to $35.
The Beauty of Life Sickle Cell Awareness Fashion Show is bringing people together for a common cause, to have a good time, to raise awareness and to raise funds for the Children's Hospital of Oakland Sickle Cell Disease Center. Featured designers include James Head, Marianne Faulkner, Anya Zuyeva, Nancy Delos Reyes, R. Shay Miles, Dao Thabthimkoson and Anthony Aleman. Jewelry provided by Gallery of Jewels. The fashion show starts at 7:00 PM and the event concludes at 8:00 PM. General admission is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Reserved seating is $30 and includes a complimentary drink. Students can attend for $15 with ID.
Art, both wearable and for your walls, is the new dinner out. A taste of the collection at Secession Art & Design will tempt and inspire you. Unexpected surfaces, layers, textures and paint mix together and rise into art that is expressive and architectural. The boutique has been transformed by a hint of fall, with warm colors, patterns and textures that create the perfect San Francisco day-to-night-ensembles. Come hungry because street food vendor Sataysfied will be selling his edible art. DJ Extralars will be spinning throughout the evening.
SATURDAY
Continuing today are Fleet Week festivities, Jazz Festival performances, The Gem Faire in Alameda, and the Warehouse Sale featuring 7 For All Mankind. Other events to enjoy include the first weekend of Open Studios in San Francisco, Oaktoberfest in the Dimond in Oakland, Summersalt Music Festival at Ft. Mason and Litquake's Lit Crawl in the Mission. Fashion events to enjoy include the following:
Come and experience a vintage fashion extravaganza with over 65 booths showcasing a wide array of women's and men's clothing, textiles, fine linens and more. This exciting event will feature timeless fashion from every decade including the Victorian and Deco eras, the fabulous 40's and 50's, the glitzy 60's, 70's and 80's, inspiring today's fashion designers. Plus there will be Halloween costumes galore, from drag queen attire to Gothic garb. Cost to attend is $5 and free for students with valid student ID.
Blue Macaw is hosting their weekly Artist Market, featuring the works of over 25 different artists and designers. Come enjoy drink and food specials while you shop each of the collections!
San Francisco's Ultimate Women's Expo, the West Coast's ultimate weekend designed for women, takes place at the San Francisco Concourse on October 9th and 10th, 2010, featuring 500 shopping booths, keynote speakers Kirstie Alley, Helen Hunt and Lisa Rinna, plus a weekend of pampering and rejuvenation for Bay Area women. Admission includes an amazing array of complimentary spa services, including free makeovers, haircuts, manicures, pedicures, massages and facials. Attendees will also enjoy a full schedule of speakers, book signings, celebrity appearances, and cooking and design demonstrations. The Kate Spade runway shows will feature the latest in fashions for the holidays, the Pottery Barn Holiday Decorating Stage will provide new ideas on preparing your home for the holidays, the Cooking Theatre will feature Bay Area chefs preparing the latest in holiday meal ideas and the Tea Garden Lounge will feature a relaxing garden for peaceful serenity with free champagne, martini, margaritas and wine tastings. Did Dat Productions is hosting a Masquerade Fashion Show in Oakland at Afriko Kaffee. Cost to attend is $20.
Mario B. Productions and Omolara Entertainment presents the 4th Annual Rock The Runway fashion show. This evening of fashion, performances and music will be hosted by Chuy Gomez from 106.1 KMEL. Tickets are $40 for VIP and $20 general admittance.
ERA Art Bar & Lounge presents "Trends: The Little Black Dress Episode." Trends is designed to celebrate Bay Area fashion innovators in a beautiful atmosphere with dynamic and inspired people as they partake in a night of fashion, art and good music. The inaugural episode is titled "The Black Dress Episode" where ladies are encouraged to come dress in trendy black dresses. This event will also be featuring a runway show with the fashion of Chan.nel Karama Ltd. The event is free before 10:30 PM and $10 at the door after 10:30 PM. Cost for ladies in black dresses after 10:30 PM is $5.
SUNDAY
Continuing today are Fleet Week festivities, Jazz Festival performances, The Gem Faire in Alameda, the Warehouse Sale featuring 7 For All Mankind, Open Studios in San Francisco and San Francisco's Ultimate Women's Expo. Also happening today is the Decompression street faire in San Francisco and an Evening of Comedy charity event in Berkeley for the LMSarcoma Direct Research Foundation. Come enjoy a fabulous night of fashion and music for the American Red Cross. This is an official red carpet fashion show and silent auction fundraiser to help the American Red Cross organization raise funds for San Bruno Fire Victims. The fashion show will feature the collections of Dark Garden Corsetry & Couture, Phuong My, Kaatje Designs and Pace Clothing. DJs performing through the night include St. John, Frank Nitty and Chris Hope. VIP tickets are $35 and general admission is $20.
