This Week's Fashionable Events: Fashion Shows, Trunk Shows, Parties & More


UPCOMING FASHIONABLE FUN EVENTS IN the sf bay area, week of august 16th to august 22nd, 2010 

Lady Gaga is in the Bay Area Monday and Tuesday for performances at the HP Pavilion in San Jose and is sure to draw out throngs of her fashionable monster followers.  If you're not attending the shows, keep a look out for photographs from the concert and of attendees.  Check out these other fashionable events throughout the week.  Whatever you do, enjoy your week in style!

WEDNESDAY
Get ready for an evening of DJs, dancing, cocktails, fashion show and gorgeous penthouse views.  This event will be featuring the launch of Azad Makeup by Sanaz Asadzadeh and a fashion show of Lucy Bea's swimwear collection.  RSVP to be on the guestlist at info@sebastienpresents.com.

THURSDAY
Going to a museum is always fashionably fun.  Thursday evening the MoMA is open late for their  MoMA Nights with live entertainment, speciality drinks, chef catered tasting menus and more.  The California Academy of Sciences is hosting their Nightlife event featuring a live performance from the band Dawes.  The de Young has their Impressionism At Twilight, where you can get inspired by the impressionism art and enjoy a special French prix fixe menu.  San Francisco Opera's BRAVO! club is having a kick-off party for their 19th Annual Opening Gala (September) at the Kim Vo Salon from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.  Other fashion events include the following:
Chrome SF is celebrating their 15th anniversary!  Everything in the store is 30% off for this event.  The store will also be hosting a BBQ from 12:00 to 5:00 PM and selling $1 beers from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  They will also be raffling off limited edition anniversary Chrome bags.  All proceeds from the food and beer sales will be benefitting the San Francisco Bike Kitchen.
Support Susan G Komen for the Cure by showing your passion for fashion!  Local designers and boutiques will be participating to show their collections on and off the runway.  Complimentary glass of champagne and raffle ticket with admission.  Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door.
UGG Australia and 944 Media invite you to attend an exclusive event to preview the Fall 2010 collection.  Highlights include spinning by DJ Adam Cova, opportunity to pre-order Fall 2010 products, complimentary gifts with purchase, as well as food and beverages.  No cost to attend.
Vino Moda's Fashion Awakening will enthrall your senses with a fashion show, advice from beauty and styling experts, fine wine, food and entertainment.  Held at the Officer's Club at Fort Mason, enjoy stunning views of the bay as you experience a night of fashionable fun.  Cost is $36 in advance and $45 at the door.
Art Attack presents The Out Far Bazaar, a Burning Man clothing sale and fashion show.  Swankety Swank's Faerie Tale Fashion Show will be narrated by Storm and featuring the fashions of Darina Drapkin, DAS, gibbous, Wayward Shiftys, Wysterium Wear and Yabette Alfaro.  There will be all night dancing with DJ Lord Kook and special entertainment "Battle of the Opera Divas."  Cost of admission is $5.

FRIDAY
The de Young is also hosting their Friday Nights at the de Young with live entertainment, music, art, food and drinks.  Other fashion events to enjoy include the following:
The third Bead & Design Show will hosts 150 artists, artisans, merchants, suppliers and workshop teachers and showcase a wide range of designer products that are beautiful and sustainable.  This is a great opportunity to shop and take a workshop to learn a new craft.  Admission is $10
Secession is celebrating its third anniversary devoted to independent design!  Peruse the gallery and boutique while you mingle and view the collection of the featured artists Nicole Markoff and Brittany M. Powell.  No cost to attend.
DNA (Designers + Artists) are hosting this event along with fashionable websites Lookbook.nu and Nasty Gal IRL.  There will be dancing, drinking, giveaways and more!  No cost to attend.

SATURDAY
The Bead & Design Show continues today from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.  Food and fashion are two major enjoyments, so makes perfect sense to stop at the  San Francisco Street Food Festival.  This event kicks-off at La Cocina Community Kitchen in the Mission with a block party of the city's best street food vendors with entertainment for the family.  The Art & Soul Festival in also happening in Oakland where there will be music, food and fun.  Other fashion events to enjoy include:
The Indie Mart comes to the Western Addition!  The Alamo Square Flea Market & Indie Mart will be hosting vintage inspired vendors, indie vendors, DIY workshops and more.  No cost to attend.
5'8" and taller?  Tired of clothes that don't truly fit?  British retailer Long Tall Sally brings its "tall" clothing and accessories stateside with the Long Tall Sally "Pop-Up Shop" at Hotel Nikko.  Long Tall Sally offers denim, outerwear, suiting and more.  The collection is available online, but this event will give Bay Area women a chance to shop the Autumn/Winter Collection in person.  No cost to attend.
The fourth annual Beyond the Fence Trunk Show highlights over 30 local independent designers, showcasing designs for both on and off the Playa.  Some of the designers include Dreamtime, Invisible Heroes, Jan Hilmer, Fluidance, Medium Reality, Kayo Anime Clothing, Miss Velvet Creme, Miss G Designs, Miranda Caroligne, Moda Sandrita, S&G Clothing, Silver Lucy Design, Tamo Design, Steam Trunk and more!  Enjoy an intimate shopping experience while listing to some of SF's finest DJs.  No cost to attend.
  • Mutts & Models Fashion Show at Santa Rosa Plaza, Saturday, August 21, 2010, 1071 Santa Rosa Avenue, Santa Rosa, 2:00 - 3:00 PM
Join top models and top dogs for a back-to-school runway show!  Models from Julie Nation Academy will strut their stuff with adoptable pets from the Sonoma Humane Society.  All the styles on the runway will be available at the Santa Rosa Plaza and all the mutts featured on the runway will be adoptable.  Fashion show will begin at 2:00 PM in the Center Court.
supperclub, Evolution (of Fashion) and DJ4Live presents a fashion show featuring Boditecture by Wen Guo and Ureshii by Ashton Miyako.  See a unique and masterful collection of architecturally inspired fashion design that will transform, inspire and intrigue you from one look to another.  A portion of the proceeds will be going to Rural Education Action Project from Stanford to help students from poor rural households in Asia/China go to school.  Doors open at 9:30 and show starts at 11:00 PM.  Tickets are $15 presale, $20 at the door, and $30 for VIP tickets.  

SUNDAY
Last day of the Bead and Design Show and Long Tall Sally "Pop-Up Shop" in San Francisco.  Stern Grove Festival is happening today with a free concert at 2:00 PM by They Might Be Giants and Rogue Wave.  Check back later this week for any fashion events that might show up for this day!
